Department of Defense Studies

The department of Defence established in 1967Defence and strategic studies is a lucrative career option for students having an aptitude  for military education at the undergraduate level. At present total no. of students who have opted for the subject in B.A.I,B.A II,B.A.III is around 1500. The subject Defence Studies is an optional subject offered as a part of the undergraduate degree course, the Bachelor of Arts by Punjabi University, Patiala. It covers the topics of Nuclear Policies, Guerrilla Warfare, Military Psychology, National Defence and Strategic Challenges, International Politics, History of War in India which are of immense importance in instilling the quality or sense of patriotism and national pride among the students. Defence Studies as a subject caters to imparting knowledge to the young students at the basic grass root levels to understand the numerous difficulties and challenges faced by our country nowadays in the form of terrorism, naxalism, separatism etc at a glance as Internal and external Security problems.
