About the Department

The Department of Physical Education has been among the premier Departments of the college. The department of Physical Education was established in 1935 as an independent department to produce good physical education teachers and to promote research work in the area of physical education and sports. This department is providing world class education and fitness facilities to the students and other faculty members of college.

Govt. Mohindra College, Patiala, is a gift of H. H. Maharaja Mohinder Singh (1852-76) of Patiala to his state subjects. At the time of its inception in 1875, it was the only institution of its kind in a vast area stretching from Lahore to Delhi. The College was established to provide free education to the state subjects as this region was educationally impoverished.
