RED CROSS SOCIETY
Aim: The programme aims to instilling the idea of social welfare in students, and to provide service to society without bias. Red Cross Society volunteers work to ensure that the needy get help to enhance their standard of living and lead a life of dignity. In doing so, the volunteers learn from people in villages how to lead a good life despite a scarcity of resources. It also provides help in natural and man-made disasters by providing food, clothing and first aid to the disaster’s victims.The broad objectives of Red Cross Society are to:
(i) understand the community in which they work
(ii) understand themselves in relation to their community
(iii) identify the needs and problems of the community and involve them in problem solving process
(iv) develop among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility
(v) utilize their knowledge in finding practical solution to individual and community problems
(vi) develop competence required for group living and sharing of responsibilities
(vii) develop capacity to meet emergencies and natural disasters
(viii) practice national integration and social harmony.

Red Cross Society volunteers work towards community service in health, education, environment, and rural development. Red Cross Society activities include tree plantation, blood donation camps, awareness campaigns, and community service projects in rural areas. The society also provides opportunities for personal development and leadership training, with Red Cross Society volunteers encouraged to take responsibility for planning and implementing social service projects. Participation in Red Cross Society is voluntary, and students can enroll in the program for three years during their undergraduate or postgraduate studies. It provides a platform for students to work for the betterment of society while gaining practical experience and developing interpersonal skills. Red Cross Society has made significant contributions to society in various fields and continues to inspire others to serve the community.

6. | 2022-23 | Poster Making and Quotation writing on National Education Day | On November 11, 2022 the volunteer of Youth Red Cross Society in collaboration with Department of History and Department of Commerce and Management of Government Mohindra College, Patiala celebrated National Education Day. The students paid tribute to Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad (First Minister for Education in India) on his birth anniversary by making posters and writing quotes on education. |
7. | 2022-23 | Donation for All India Pingla Ashram | On November 12, 2022 the volunteer of Youth Red Cross Society of Government Mohindra College, Patiala ubder the supervision of Dr. Gagandip Cheema, Prof. Hardeep Singh and Prof. Meena Goyal visited All India Pingla Ashram Sanaur Road, Patiala. The volunteers saw the condition of mentally disabled inmates of the Ashram and donated clothes, blankets, shawls and money for them. |

Approximately 65 students participated in the quiz, Thereafter; Preamble of the Constitution was read by the teachers of the department and participants. |
