IIC Introducation

Introduction

The Government of India through Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC) introduced the Institute’s Innovation Council (IIC) program in partnership with All India Council for Higher Education (AICTE). Launched in the year 2018, Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) were encouraged to set up ‘Innovation Cell’ with a mandate to systematically foster the culture of innovation in in higher education. Major area of focus of IIC include creating a vibrant local innovation ecosystem, promoting the culture of start-ups in HEIs, preparing institute for Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements Framework and establishing function ecosystem for scouting ideas and pre-incubation.

Keeping in mind to fulfil this mandate, Government Mohindra College, Patial set up IIC in the year 2023 as per the directions of Director, Higher Education.

Govt. Mohindra College, Patiala, is a gift of H. H. Maharaja Mohinder Singh (1852-76) of Patiala to his state subjects. At the time of its inception in 1875, it was the only institution of its kind in a vast area stretching from Lahore to Delhi. The College was established to provide free education to the state subjects as this region was educationally impoverished.
