Government Mohindra College Patiala is working closely with neighbouring institutions and forming academic collaborations with various stakeholders especially industrial partners to build capacities of students through organizing training programmes, hands-on-experience exercises, career counselling sessions and activities promoting entrepreneurial and innovative spirit amongst students. The academic collaborations have been formalized through functional Memorandum of Associations (MoUs) signed with neighbouring institutions and stakeholders. These initiatives have contributed significantly in the form of students excelling in competitive examinations and getting placed in industrial/non-industrial units.

Govt. Mohindra College, Patiala, is a gift of H. H. Maharaja Mohinder Singh (1852-76) of Patiala to his state subjects. At the time of its inception in 1875, it was the only institution of its kind in a vast area stretching from Lahore to Delhi. The College was established to provide free education to the state subjects as this region was educationally impoverished.
