Comprehensive and Continuous Evaluation System
The college religiously follows comprehensive and continuous evaluation system as prescribed by the affiliating university i.e. Punjabi University, Patiala comprising internal and external examinations. The internal examination which comprises 25-30% of the overall evaluation is spearheaded by the college consisting of conducting mid-semester examinations; allot term papers/ assignments/ projects to students and participation of students in curricular activities.
The external examination comprising 70-75% weightage in overall evaluation is conducted by the university comprising theory and practical examinations.
On the basis of total marks achieved by the students in internal and external examinations, the affiliating university ranks the students as merit holders, first division, second division, third divisions and fail.
Attainment of Course Outcomes and Programme Outcomes
The scheme of examination serves as a mechanism for ascertaining the level of attainment of Programme Outcome and Course Outcomes. Programme outcomes and course outcomes are spelled out by the affiliating university in the syllabuses of the respective academic programme and courses. The contents of the curriculum are designed by the university keeping in mind the desired learning outcomes of the students for the respective programme and course. Thus a student’s performance in one course in the form of total marks attained exhibit level of course outcomes. Similarly aggregate performance of a student’s performance in all the courses of an academic programme shows the level of attainment of programme outcomes. Higher the pass percentage of students in the terminal examination, higher is the level of attainment of programme outcomes.
